International Care Forum (USA) – Call for presentations

The International Care Forum Lectures was initiated by Dan Engster at the University of Houston (USA) in 2020. The Care Forum is an international cooperative group dedicated to sponsoring lectures, discussions, and other types of events on care theory and was sponsored by the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Center on Ethics and Leadership. You can watch here some of their previous lectures

Maurice Hamington (Portland State University, USA) will be monitoring it for the next 2 years. They are soliciting new work in care theory for four presentation slots at the Care Forum for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Care Forum is an international zoom forum featuring theoretical work from a range of disciplines, including but not limited to: Philosophy, Political science, Gender Studies, History, and Anthropology. Papers are distributed approximately a week in advance of the meeting.

Next year, works in progress will be given priority, but new books will also be considered.

To be considered for a presentation, send a 200 word abstract to Maurice Hamington by August 1, 2024.

Presentations should include the motivation for the project, followed by the core claims and their defense. Your abstract should specify your disciplinary orientation, as well as whether you are working across disciplines (and which disciplines).

Responses will be sent by early September.

The Care Forum Advisory Board includes:

Maurice Hamington (Chair)
Asha L. Bhandary
Daniel Engster
Lina-Maria Murillo
Joan Tronto
