With great sadness we inform you that Frans Vosman passed away June 10, 2020 after a strenuous illness.
Frans was co-founder of the Research group Care and Contested Coherence (CCC) and the driving force behind it.
He first founded this network at Tilburg University (NL) and later at the University of Humanistic Studies (NL). Over the passing years he participated in the Critical Ethics of Care research network as a great inspirator and leader on the path of political ethics of care.
With his great acumen, large network and social engagement, Frans knew time and again to open up new knowledge and to invite the right people. This led to fascinating meetings and to a unique series of books in English on the Ethics of Care.
Together with the editorial board of www.ethicsofcare.org he made this knowledge widely accessible and on an ongoing base addressed new issues. All the while with a lot of subtlety and humour. And of course: his own wisdom.
Frans made the ‘small’ grief large, inevitable and somewhat manageable.
It is unthinkable having to miss all this. We owe him a great deal. And we are also grateful for Frans having timely put others in place to lead the research network. We will go on. But the grief is tremendous.
We wish his loved ones strength.
Frans was laid to rest in private circle.
